Akaroa New Zealand
I have two paintings on this page of Akaroa New Zealand.
The art work on the right ( A Slice Of Akaroa) is an acrylic painting of the wharf looking back at the main tourist area that supports french style restaurants, gift shops and tour booking agencies. I sold this painting at one of the local galleries. The art work below ( Akaroa Habour Dusk) is painted in egg tempera and is from the same wharf but looking out towards the harbour as the sun was setting behind the hills. This sunset happened as we were enjoying some delicious local fish and chips. Akaroa Harbour Dusk![]() Akaroa Harbour Dusk / Medium, Egg Tempera
Egg Tempera gives a soft and lustrous quality which is perfect for this painting, but it is a very difficult medium to work with. This painting never made it on to the gallery wall as interest in this painting was immediate and it was sold on completion. AKAROA TOWNSHIPAkaroais the jewel of Banks Peninsula, situated an hour and a half's drive from Christchurch. The French influence is everywhere; you can see it in the street names, the architecture and definitely the fine dining with waterfront cafes, bars and restaurants.
