Christchurch New Zealand
Artist Statement - Christchurch Cathedral Square
When you visit Christchurch New Zealand the main point of reference is Christchurch Cathedral Square, it is possibly the most photographed place in Christchurch.
So whilst I was working on another scene around town, I was approached by a Japanese lady to do this commissioned art work of the Christchurch Cathedral for her mother's birthday to remind her of her holiday in the Garden City.

Christchurch New Zealand
Christchurch is a very green and beautiful city. The river Avon winds its way through the centre of the city and with the old English styled buildings it makes for a picture postcard place to visit.
On the whole people are very friendly and the place is very easy going and laid back.
The Christchurch tram is a major feature for tourists, and it is a perfect way to see all of the places of interest in the inner city. One of my favourite stops is the Christchurch Arts Centre where I have done a number of paintings.
Christchurch New Zealand is the largest city in the South Island so there is plenty of choice for accommodation, restaurants, and things to do in the city.
Further Beyond Christchurch
There are many great places to visit not far from the city of Christchurch. You can travel over Banks Peninsular to the French sea side settlement of Akaroa, or head west to see the stunning lakes and mountain scenery throughout mid Canterbury,
or head north to the Waipara wine distract and Hanmer Springs.
